RE: Secret Healthcare Prices

That's been part of the scam in US healthcare industry practically forever.

Best way to prevent free market influences, which tend to drive prices down, is to prevent it from becoming a free market in the first place by making prices a secret. If you can't shop for lowest price, they can charge whatever they want and you won't know you're being ripped off.

Paul Starr wrote a very informative book years ago titled "The Social Transformation of American Medicine: The Rise of a Sovereign Profession and the Making of a Vast Industry". It pretty well covers the history of how we got so f'd up here in the US.
