RE: Why disable the lane warning system? Even if it once saves a side-swipe,

Yeah. I'm not as sensitive to the dinging and beeping as I was initially, but I still prefer the road noise.

Some manufacturers seem to be starting to listen to consumers about these things. Wife and I bought our daughter a new Crosstrek last month. It came with that horrible, awful, disgusting, annoying auto stop/start feature. Marketed as a fuel saver, but it's really meant to sell starter motors and batteries.

Was told there was no way to permanently disable it. It always defaulted to on whenever the engine is started is what we were told. Imagine my surprise and delight when I discovered that Subaru had made a mid-year production change to that "feature" that nobody at the dealership knew Suby had made. Now, when you turn off the auto stop/start, it stays off until you manually re-engage it. No more defaulting to always on. This is the way it should've worked from the get go. They listened to all the people kvetching about that shitty feature and the way it worked and changed it, halleluiah!

Let's hope more makers return function control to the user.

Power to the user!!!
