There are issues with natural immunity largely because we don't know how long it will last or exactly how it well it may work in the long term. Antibodies are known to stay for at least 6-8 months for most of those having been infected. However, there is more than just antibodies:
But experts say it's important to keep in mind that antibodies aren't the only defenses your immune system has to fight the coronavirus. There are other components such as memory B cells and T cells that play major virus killing roles, too, though these players are less understood in the context of COVID-19.
This article is interesting on the Delta variant, vaccine effectiveness and natural immunity. The data isn't great, but it does suggest that protection is good against hospitalization and deaths. Boosters or new Delta targeted vaccines might help particularly for the more vulnerable.
