My wife has a lot of Youtube videos and also does Yoga Dances with music, so she's got plenty of experience with the copyright issues. For the most part, everything is copyrighted. When Youtube flags your video for copyright, then any ad revenue for those videos will go to to the copyright holder instead of you. Some artists, Garth Brooks is one, don't allow any of their music on Youtube and those are ones that are totally blocked.
Since Youtube generates a lot of ad revenue from these ads, they won't kill the golden goose, so there will never be a massacre.
