When we lived in Dana Point, a dense residential area, we found a litter of possums in our detached garage. Mother wasn't around and the critters were up in a rafters making mischief.
For days, we chased them around and would get one cornered and stick a box on it and send it off miles away. Finally, I caught the last one and took it about 10 miles away. Two days later, I found another one and thought, no, do they find their way back? Naw, they just all look alike.
I can tell you that these oversized, ugly rats will eat anything. A 5 gallon plastic trash can was destroyed with much of it missing and nowhere to be found.
Then, there was the litter of skunks living under our deck there. We wisely stopped leaving cat food on the deck, so they politely left.
