I'd rather get a 2 pound bass on light line than pull in a 200 pounder, or even 100 pounder unless it's a bluefin.
We did a trip to Cabo years ago and hired a panga and guide. Within 10 minutes of getting some live bait and finding a spot not far from the bait boats, I got a hit.
It's a lot of work to get a big fish up to the boat and then, this marlin sees us and dives taking out all the line that I'd got in. All you can do is muscle him up and reel, reel, reel. I was exhausted.
Since we'd only been out a couple hours, we baited up again and unbelievably, the guide hooked up almost immediately. He looked at me to take the rod, but I pointed to my then girlfriend. She was tough and getting tired and screaming, 'What do I do'. The guide says, 'Just reel, reel, reel.' She did and pulled it in for the release.
Her's was guessed to be about 135 pound and mine was a bit bigger, around 165. I never had any inclination to go marlin fishing again, but I did keep the girl.
