Yeah, these boards are 1 1/2" wide. From what I understand, it was a common size up into the 20s or 30s when 2" boards became more common.
What's a mystery is that the master closet and the hall closet have 2" boards. I can only guess that they ran out of the 1 1/2" and someone had some left over 2". In the master, the 2" starts right at the door jam. but in the hall, you can see where it changes at the end of the card board box on the left. BTW: That closet is the old finish.
In the master closet, I also noticed that the 2" boards are also short, likely cut off pieces from some other job as most of them are 2 to 3 footers.
