My issue with these articles is that they point to the science here and forget about it over there. Natural immunity is a key example. Sure, there are knows, unknowns and speculation or 'best practices'. Therefore, the conventional wisdom is that even if you have natural immunity, you still need to get vaccinated.
As to the delta variant, the vaccines appear to be effective and so should natural immunity be effective if not more so. What we appear to know is that the delta variant seems to be more contagious. Of course, mutations that become more contagious will take over over time. The real question is whether it results in more serious illness and death which seems to be largely unknown.
Could we see a huge spike in the Fall? It's possible. Should the unvaccinated get the jab. Sure. Should those with natural immunity get the jab? If they are in the vulnerable groups, it's not a bad idea. Yet again, all these articles completely ignore the idea of natural immunity and focus solely on the unvaccinated versus vaccinated. Typically estimates of the total if actual infected is 4-6 times the number of verified, tested cases.
What I also notice is how stupid the journalists are. Take this quote from the article.
According to Hopes, that makes vaccination more important than ever. " When you have that many cases, and you have a 40 percent fatality rate , you have to worry," he continued in an interview with Florida Politics. "I would prefer not to have any more employee funerals."
