Thank you, it's quite interesting. The US tax laws are full of special deductions and loopholes. While the politicians blame the lobbyists, it's all a smoke screen because the 'elites' believe that the people are stupid even when they claim that they're going to tax the rich, it never really happens.
I'm all for everyone paying something, even the poor. Otherwise, without skin in the game, many people will just try to game the system and believe that they deserve free stuff and just want more and more. Some of our taxes go to pay people to have kids with children care deductions and refundable child tax credits along with Earned Income Tax Credits and discounted housing based on income. In a perverse way, it incentivizes people to keep their income down by not taking promotions or working more hours. For example, somewhere around $25,000, the benefits get reduced for housing subsidies and EITC which can amount to $10K or more.
Of course, having people paid to make children that they can't afford is yet another pet peeve of mine.
