Well, I think a lot of the information we get is cautioned by best practices particularly when the answers are that we don't know yet. How COVID is transmitted is an example. First, it was surfaces and that masks and distancing and wiping surfaces would be effective. Later, it was proven that it aerosolizes and can hang in the air for a long time and move long distances indoors making the 6 foot rule to be completely wrong.
Surely, there are far to many variables and unknowns. Current studies suggest natural immunity may last at least a year. We don't know how long the vaccines will be effective either. It takes time to find out. However, saying that we may need a booster like the flu shots is yet another version of we don't know, so we'll just caution and scare people out of an abundance of caution.
The CDC is recommending that people who have been infected and recovered still get the vaccine is yet another best practices and CYA policy. It's not particularly proven science though I agree that it's not a bad idea though some experts advise to wait a few months after infection prior to getting the vaccine.
Personally, I'd been exposed to COVID as my wife did test positive and has donated antibodies which still remain in her system after 8 months and she's donating more, so we'll see if she still has them. I may have had an asymptomatic case or have some natural immunity. But I still choose to take the vaccine, although my Doctor cautioned against the mRNA vaccines, so I took the J&J version.
