Inmate Central, where civil and family-friendly discourse about off-audio topics (other than religion and politics) is welcome.

Like with crime, homelessness largely is an economic issue.

And, it's very complex. There is no "typical" homeless person. Some are sleeping in cars with their children because the fathers are dead-beat dads (20+%). Some have pronounced mental illness. Others, addiction issues. Some want assistance, others fiercely resist it.

Obviously, providing a social net so that people "one paycheck away from the streets" don't in fact end up there is critical.

But solutions are political: blaming the victim and thinking that creating more jobs is a solution just isn't going to lead anywhere--- so, like crime, homelessness is destined to continue on a huge scale in this country.

We don't need to debate solutions; the rest of the developed nations already have proven what works--- but it costs money.
