RE: Sure.

That is quite a surprise. I would not think that that would be a major issue with Land Rovers. Although, I have experiences with other cars I have owned that have had their own set of reliability issues, such as;

1. Corvette C5 Z06: Napier rings made by Mahle caused excess oil blow by, replaced two motors

2. Shelby GT350 excess oil use 1 quart under 500 miles, Ford issues Technical Bulletin and says 1 quart per 500 miles is normal. Covers their behind. Have to do an oil consumption test to validate oil consumption and hope engine does not go south...-sounds the same to me with the Chevrolet Corvettes I have owned.

3. BMW M3: wheel bolts and engine overheating.

4. C6 corvette: valve spring failures, Z06 overheat issues.

Now, the propensity of these vehicle's to have these issues never dissuaded me from wanting to own them. I just owned them and had fun with them. The only one that pissed me off the most was the C5 Z06, because, my rear fascia was virtually black from all of the oil spewing out the exhaust. As long as I have a warranty, I don't care of the shortfalls, I will just deal with it when it occurs. I always get rental car agreements with my warranties.

I believe that many manufacturers have some issues in their various car lines. I also think it's safe to say it's a crap shoot sometimes. I can understand the logic of being risk adverse to owning some cars due to the higher propensity of failure or issues, and also due to the fact we need reliability to do things without stress. I am now at a point in my life, where my motto is to Just enjoy life and don't fret the small stuff, life is too short.
