My experience is that true patriots don't hug the flag. Their actions speak far louder than words. They just do what has to be done without fanfare, acclaim or expectation of reward. Sadly, many in the US seem unable to see past the current bombast and recognize the lies they're being told.
And I agree that what's happening to the US at times feels entropically driven but I wonder if that points to an abdication of responsibility? As Thomas Jefferson said: "The government you elect is the government you deserve."
