And I'm retired now. I'm not insinuating that the Gov. in Michigan is wrong by canceling the Line 5 tunnel project of which of course will provide the best mitigation to prevent oil spills in the future. However, what I was saying was that some oil and gas companies do care about the communities where they are operating as they do provide all the safety measures to ensure that the communities are safe from harm and that the environmental impact is reclaimed when an accident does occur.

Pipelines installations nearby communities or underwater are very hazardous and that's the nature and the fact of the oil and gas business. Of course, there are wrong and the right way to do it and that's entirely depending on individual companies.

In hindsight Line 6 has spilled 33 times since it began its operations in 1968 which spewed over 1 million gallons of oil. And I'm not blaming the Gov. in Michigan at all for being skittish about the pipeline issues as after all she is only doing her job in protecting the surrounding communities and their environments.
