I'm with Whitmer.

Where I come from, environmental degradation from oil, coal, etc. has been devastating. The oil wells and coal mines are long gone but they still pollute. The beautiful Youghiogheny River is the most endangered river in the state thanks to fracking. Thousands of people depend on a healthy river for their livelihoods. Riding my bike along the river, there are iron oxide deposits on the river bottom again in sections. That stuff kills everything that lives in the river.
I'd gladly pay more for gasoline. We're going to pay one way or the other.
Gretchen Whitmer might only be interested in optics--I doubt it, the quickest way to get un-elected is get blamed for high gasoline prices--but her motives are irrelevant to me.
