The guy was completely bonkers if you got him talking about flying saucers. Like opening up a can of worms. Hard to listen to. Best just to politely excuse yourself from discussion. And it would have been cruel to disillusion him, as he was so enthusiastic on the subject. Because he was an honest hard-working man. And nothing else was obviously wrong with him.
Maybe it's okay for a people to have a screw loose here or there. Preposterous belief can be a quirky thing when it stays pleasant, not necessarily a sign of damaged intellect. But when a flying saucer nutcase gets repeatedly hostile, maybe then it's time to write him a ticket to the looney bin.
