Inmate Central, where civil and family-friendly discourse about off-audio topics (other than religion and politics) is welcome.

It's a chicken vs egg argument.

Do they push what sells or do people want what they push? I tend to think it's the latter. Always has been.
A good example is the Chevrolet Sonic. GM made a major investment in a US factory to build the car, the UAW made concessions in order to keep production here...yet the car was never sold to the public. Chevy commercials out the proverbial wazoo on TV, but not a single commercial for the Sonic. Why?
Of course, the car's gone now, no longer in production. It was small, efficient, certainly no worse than other cars in its price/size range, better than most of them. GM made zero attempt to sell the car to the public.
The General isn't alone. None of the car makers outside of Nissan and Toyota make any attempt to market anything but trucks and SUVs.

The blissful counterstroke-a considerable new message.
