Decoration was certainly not the purpose of any watch I've owned and worn.
The idea that people wear expensive watches as decoration or to impress others is illogical. Most people can't tell a Rolex from an Omega from a Breitling until they get close enough to read it on the dial. My Seiko gets mistaken for a Rolex GMT by people who *think* they know watches. Its pretty funny.
The only watch mentioned in this thread that could possibly fall into the decorative category is Movado, with its iconic Museum Watch.
Rolex, Omega and Seiko (all mentioned) are considered some of the best made tool watches in the industry.
Do yourself a favor Dave, don't go onto a wristwatch enthusiast site and put forth your theory. You'll be treated like someone who came here to tout his Crosley turntable as the best and anything more expensive pure vanity.
Its all just different strokes for different folks.
Dean.
reelsmith's axiom: Its going to be used equipment when I sell it, so it may as well be used equipment when I buy it.
