The concept behind the universal serial bus was good but the original implementation created an unnecessary need for it to work in one and only one way. How many times have you wasted time having to flip a USB-A connector over to work because your 50/50 guess was incorrect?
I welcome the replacement of that user hostile approach with one that works no matter from which orientation you plug it in. :)
