Affluent are retiring in droves. Is that good or bad for the economy?

I'd say good: no one irreplaceable and this will open up all those jobs near-or-at-the-top with a corresponding upward elevation of employees. Many more jobs will be opening up downstream as a result. Bloomberg has a different, negative take.

About 2.7 million Americans age 55 or older are contemplating retirement years earlier than they'd imagined because of the pandemic, government data show.
