RE: Um, how about the US?

India was caught unprepared. They missed the initial wave that spread around Asia, Europe, and North America. When the virus finally hit, it wasn't that bad, relatively speaking. They suppressed it to under 10k cases a day, but when they let their guard down it came back with a high R0 that's now overwhelming their health care system. They're in the same situation now that Hubei province went through, then Northern Italy, then NYC and Southern New England, and so on. Everybody thinks is won't happen to them until it does.

But they still have a long way to go to equal our current case numbers on a per capita basis, let alone our peak numbers.

The US is by far and away the biggest COVID threat to the rest of the world, not India.
