The company seems to stubbornly following this idiotic course.
It is working for them... I suspect 85% of their buyers buy the Roundel, they don't know the first thing about such insignificant items as tires.
With the M series there has always been the huge muffler issue, killing the space for the spare. But on the lesser models they just would not do it. And on the 3 series a full size spare pretty much takes the whole trunk.
But you are right... I too would not take a long drive in a car with no spare.
