Asking a question and responding to the answer is the logical way to have a conversation.

I've enjoyed target shooting since I was a kid and I currently reload as both a pastime and way to save money. Since 1992, I've logged just under 13,000 rounds for both family and myself. I have a brother and cousin who also enjoy going to the range.

In the Atlanta area, there is a large outdoor range available to the public run by the county police department. Naturally, it is staffed by officers and one day I struck up on a conversation with one about folks driving around with their guns to ranges. He said it did make them feel more at ease knowing that the driver had a permit - which means getting fingerprinted and run through the FBI system. While the "competency" part of the exam firing your gun before an instructor is pretty brief, the process also involves in depth training in what defines the use of lethal force. While I would not require that for purchase (as it would most unfairly affect the disadvantaged), I think it is a good thing for all gun owners to do.

Why not? The cost averages about ten bucks a year.

I haven't purchased any new guns in some time, but for a while I enjoyed trying out a couple of types that I had never used including a couple of .22 target pistols, a small .380 and a couple of "cowboy" single action guns. Having a CCL saves a lot of time in that the gun dealer need only note your license information for the purchase. Convenience.

In truth, I rarely carry a gun and more likely I'll just put one in the truck. Wifey and I have both also been fingerprinted by the TSA to become "known travelers" so that we always fly TSA Pre. And use Clear to further speed up that process. Not sure if you've used it before, but you stand in front of a kiosk and look into a target of sorts. It takes a retinal scan and validates your identity. Pretty cool and allows you to just walk right up and get your luggage scanned.

I also carry an umbrella insurance policy. Why not?
