Here is a post from way back that has always stuck in my head regarding morons who bring up if only there had been more armed people they could have made it turn out differently. Yeah! More innocent dead people is almost guaranteed. If the 25% at best number of hits under fire are accurate for SWAT teams just what do you suppose some "tough" guy with an overactive imagination is going to have as opposed SWAT teams. This whole discussion has gotten really, really old and thoughts and prayers just don't cut it for this anymore.

They were on my college campus for career day recruiting(even though SWAT doesn't recruit). I asked him what their accuracy rate was under fire, he said 25%, at best. Much less most of the time. He was dead serious. His view was that most discharge was really suppressive fire to degrade an attackers will to fight and buy time until overwhelming support arrives.
So, it seems to me, that hitting an attacker/intruder for the rest of us is more luck than skill."
