RE: Besides...

You remember when Ford was selling Yugos ? Well when employees bought them on the A plan they were insured for more than they cost. So he happened by the Ford plant and whatever bar they went to around there, and his job was to burn them.

Can't get much sportier than a Yugo. The only way maybe is to take all the seats out (like the olman's 57 Chevy and no it was not a converted four door) and rip half the dash out. Put in a tach and ZOOM !

Then fit it with nitro, shave the heads, err head, super charge it and it will burn itself. If you happen to need a crankshaft it will be laying in the street. You might get a spare cylinder head, that is indicated by a bulge in the hood.

Know what the olman wanted to do ? Take MY 1970 Toronado, use the front of it attached to another Olds with rear wheel drive and steer with the Toro gear, and just the throttles of the two engines are tied together. That would be about 800 HP.

Then we got Hillbilly, the most dangerous Man with a torch or arc welder in the tri-state area. Remember those bicycle type things but steered in front with two wheels ? Well he wanted to put a motorcycle back on one. He actually intended to drive it, but maybe he would let me try it first because i have this death wish, which is why I don't drive anymore.

Someone kinda had him topped, though I am sure he could do it - they put a small block V8 like a 327 on a Harley. For a few different reasons I think that dude is dead now. Perhaps mental health, he is as bad as me. Seriously, I almost let the olman butcher my wonderful car. Eight fucking hundred horsepower. Low end peak torque even higher and at a very comfortably low RPM.

Well he was the one who had to build that 57. Did wheelies in three gears and he drove it so hard he blew 2nd out of the tranny. I don't remember if he had a Borg or a Muncie, I would take the Borg for performance but the Muncies were much sturdier. So you might lose the race when the countergear blows out the rear and impales the next car.

I was offered big money to fix a certain tranny the guy wanted, and its problem was not trivial. Full teardown. Needed a gear replaced. I could have done it but I didn't have a few things. I think it was on the countershaft but could not be 100% without the teardown. Either way that doesn't come out in that one without the main shaft out. It was some type of Ford.

Know what the problem was ? (not the tranny, me) To tear down one of those things you need two totally free workbenches, trust me you do. I could not scare them up in my basement. I had no problem buying tools, we bought more tools in that decade than Mr Goodwrench. And they can't do shit without a book.

Like a friend of mine, Olds whatever, small one in the 1990s. Four banger indestructo engine. (4-151) Drove nice. All the sudden it runs like shit. Well it coss down to timing irrons or the crank sensor, the crank sensor was no joke, but after fucking with it for a time I see there is stufff coming OUT of the throttle body when it runs. Well walks. Ithad already been to Mr. Goodwrench and they said "Replaceenigne" like the computer told them to say. Fifty bucks out the window. soI driveit nsit is totally gutless. thenI see the top ofthat throttle bosdy and said "Goimme a minute". I wwnet and draank two beers thinking about it and said "Tar down for timing vchain". "But Jeff, it doesn't have one". I repeated mtself and then after a few hours the guy shows up in his other cart with guess what... a timing chain tensioner. not in the greatest of shape I might add.

I don't want this to last all night so I won't tell you about the Mazda B-2000 pickup. (I will not call it a truck) that belonged to one of our lawyers and he wanted to keep it so there was no not fixing it.

I will close by saying, DO NOT EVER LET ANYONE KNOW YOU KNOW HOW TO FIX CARS. I let the cat out of the bag on stereos and you now what that begets ? Responsibility.

Sorry to bore you if I did.
