I lived in Metairie close to that gun shop.

I used to go there and use the range. I took classes and got my CC permit there. That area is considered pretty safe. The New Orleans Saints and Pelicans training facilities are practically across the street. There is a park, baseball and soccer fields. I have walked hundreds of miles at the park. My wife and I walked our dogs there every Friday.

Everyone who went to that gun shop/range knew that all of the people working there either carried concealed or open. My theory is that the crazy guy (who was black) felt disrespected in some way in a predominantly white establishment when he was told that he couldn't come into the store with a loaded weapon. A white guy would have been told the same thing. There are signs posted. The guy obviously took it personally and started shooting people. This incident may have started due to a chip on this guy's shoulder from a previous experience way up the road. We will never know.
