Last week, the Hy-Vee chain in the KC area had split chicken breasts for $.99/lb. The thing was that they were some of the largest I'd seen in years in packages weighing about 4.5 lbs for three.
Since last March, the local Kroger affiliate here in Leavenworth has either chicken thighs or legs that are irregular in size in family packs of 8 thighs or 4 legs priced at less than $1/lb if you have their Kroeger card. They look a little bit ugly but they eat as well as the Tyson products that start at $2.59/lb and go up. Throw them on the grill and finish them with BBQ seasoning such as Rendezvous or some sauce. No one complains.
BTW, the nearest Costco sells a Kirkland brand drip grind coffee roasted by Starbucks at $8.99 for 3 lbs.
