Completely different take

I used to use an HP laser for most personal/business printing and occasionally used an inkjet when I "needed color". The inkjet was also a flat bed scanner. My challenge was that the ink typically dried up before I used it all and replacing both cartridges ran about $40.

When I purchased a new Mac Mini last year, I revamped my printer setup as well. I wanted simpler with more capability. I use an HP Office Jet Pro 6960 that also has a document feeder for scanning that has proven to be useful. Image quality is quite good and I've framed many a picture printed by it to high grade paper stock.

As for ink, I subscribe to their monthly program for the princely sum of $3.28/month. When the ink gets low, they simply send more. That is good for 50 pages/month with rollover. Occasionally dip into the rollover quantity, but have yet to need more for my printing needs.

Simple high quality, cost effective and hassle-free solution.
