Inmate Central, where civil and family-friendly discourse about off-audio topics (other than religion and politics) is welcome.

There were only 22 thousand fans in situ.

Last year's Super Bowl drew about 100 million viewers. They weren't all on Social Security, yelling at the kids to stay off their lawns.
I don't know if I like The Weeknd or not. I didn't watch the half time show (switched over to Air Disasters , which was the United Flight 232 episode) and have never heard any of his music.
But I remember Super Bowl IX in New Orleans and Pete Fountain was the half time act. I had no idea who he was and it all seemed ridiculously corny to my 19-year-old mind. My dad liked Pete Fountain, so there you go.
The NFL has to hire artists who are popular now , regardless of whether they're any good or not, regardless if they're still shaking their asses to same sad songs 40 years from now. Regardless of whether old people on their way off this mortal coil like them.
My nieces and nephews watch the Super Bowl and they're all in their 20s. There are more of them than there are of us. Time to pass the torch.
And The Weeknd, whoever he is, still beats the hell out of Up With People.

The blissful counterstroke-a considerable new message.
