Mr Tin, have you heard of the fabled "Tonganoxie Split"? Up here in Leavenworth, the farmers and gardeners alike are always complaining that storms approaching from Topeka will get deflected up towards St Joe or down towards the south side of KC. There's an elevated area that doesn't qualify as a serious hill to the West of Tongie that is supposed to be responsible. After living here for more than forty years, including a three year stint at the Ft Leavenworth weather station, I can't bring myself to believe the mythology.
