I think tackling has gotten safer in recent years

EDIT: I head this morning that Mahomes concussion was caused by the helmet to helmet hit, not ground contact. But now that I've watched it from different angles it looks more likely to be the ground contact, because his head barely moves when the helmets come together.

I do sometimes see a defender try to "pile drive" their target into the turf, but I don't see it happening more than I remember from years ago, and because of the penalty there are WAY fewer guys leading with their helmet. Also, slot receivers aren't getting crushed by blind hits like they used to.

And on the offensive side, there's fewer dirty blocks and less obvious holding.

So overall, I see cleaner play now than just a few years ago.
