This is far more dangerous than ISIS

ISIS was brutal, and jihadism is a serious threat. But neo-fascism is far, far greater threat, both in the US and globally.

We just saw Trump try to overthrow the democratically elected government of the US. And it didn't just happen on Jan 6th. He's been prepping his supporters and party for this move since 2016, and put it into action on Nov 3. Even after the Capitol was over-run by insurgents, 56% of Republican Congress members supported the plan and 45% of Republican voters supported the attack.

We're not talking about a lone wolf with a big bomb like Timothy McVeigh, or 30 guys taking over the HQ of a remote wildlife refuge. This is tens of millions of people in favor of overthrowing the government by force, and they have like minded representatives in positions of power all over the country.

This is no joke. If they can grow their ranks by another 10-20% of the population, 250 years of liberal democracy is at an end and this becomes a neo-fascist authoritarian state. I'm sure you're going to accuse me of exaggerating, either because you're for it, or you're just comfortable in your blue state suburban bubble and can't imagine it really happening. But it's closer than you think. Contesting electors was a doomed strategy because Democrats had a majority in the House. But if Republicans had a majority in the House, it could have succeeded, creating a standoff with some pretty dire consequences. And they would have done it too, I have no doubt about that.

ISIS is like a pimple on our ass by comparison, with supporters few and far between and none in positions of power.
