I'm pretty sure the framers of the Constitution did not intend the First Amendment to compel private business owners to distribute propaganda on behalf of government officials.
What the President wanted was more than just equal access to the platform. He wanted to be able to post his false propaganda and not be called on it. He cried foul at being fact checked, and issued an executive order asking the FCC to re-interpret Section 230 and basically kill social media's business model.
I'm pretty sure the framers of the Constitution intended to protect the press and other independent media from government interference, and Trump's intended misuse of regulatory authority is a perfect example of what they intended to prevent via the First Amendment.
And the framers definitely did not intend the First Amendment to protect illegal activity. See 18 U.S. Code CHAPTER 115—TREASON, SEDITION, AND SUBVERSIVE ACTIVITIES. That's a red line you can't cross without expecting to be thrown off a platform.
