As I expected, the Steelers made a furious attempt at a comeback. And if their defense hadn't given up those two long drives in the 4th quarter, or if they had forced a turnover, it would have been close.
One thing Ben brings to the team that nobody else available on the market offers is that ability to lead a comeback. He showed last night that he can still chuck the ball around. Just not always to the right guy :)
The problem is obviously his contract. The Steelers had a cap problem in 2020 and they just kicked it down the road a year, so now they have an even bigger problem in 2021. There is no way financially they can keep him next year unless they restructure the contract yet again, which would mean extending it.
So what do you suppose they will do, try to restructure Ben's contract, and perhaps others, to keep the gang together for one more run? Or cut their expensive players and throw away the next season or two to open up future space?
