I always enjoyed Lasorda and I read that he wished to be buried under the pitcher's mound at Dodger Stadium.
"And when some little ol' left-hander's out there struggling, he'll hear a voice. 'Slow down, son. Concentrate. You can do it. You gotta believe in yourself.' And he'll look around (and say), 'Someone's talking to me! Where? Who's this guy talking to me?' And it'll be Tom Lasorda, underneath that pitching mound," the Hall-of-Famer, a lefty pitcher himself, told CNN.
71 years a Dodger. I am not sure it is legal but I think he was somewhat serious that if he had a choice of where to be buried it would be at Dodger Stadium. Why not? It seems fitting.
And I agree about baseball - gone is a time where Kirk Gibson would be allowed to bat against Eckersley. Gone is a time where starting pitchers were expected to complete what they started.
If Lasorda had managed Tampa - maybe Snell gets them another game.
The guts have been taken out of the game - replaced by computers. As the Borg would say "Resistence is Futile."
