RE: Wrong

My story is similar to srdavis, except for the outhouse and milking cows. But my Dad walked to school when he was a kid in Texas, barefoot, in the snow.

I was a Marine brat and the first to go to college, on scholarship, with loans and working to pay the costs. My kids went to good schools and some private schools when we lived in a not so great public school in the neighborhood. They all went to college with some loans or scholarships or both though we surely helped bridge the gaps. The kids are all doing what they want to do and are doing well. I can't see why any of them can't do better than we did if that's their thing.

Why do you think that they won't do better than their parents? I got out of college in the midst of 70s inflation with 18% mortgage rates and high unemployment. I figured it out with hard work and luck. It was an adventure.
