Inmate Central, where civil and family-friendly discourse about off-audio topics (other than religion and politics) is welcome.

Generally, I agree but

I see people, usually the left, that go after people for something they said or did in the 1980s and are more offended than the actual people who should have been offended and were not.

As noted people tend to evolve over time. So I agree with you on groups like "The Proud Boys" and other groups that are basically a new name for the KKK who are the same bunch of thugs with a new name.

But watch this video of the heavy metal bands of the 1980s. The women were the ones who basically made these bands - they were the ones buying the tickets and chasing these men to get into their pants.

Looking at it from the 2020 lens these guys are all a bunch of misogynistic scum bags. In the 1980s they were Gods!

So 2020 women (and men) may look at them as abusers and slime balls but in their day men wanted to be them and women wanted to be under them. (link below)

Lastly, we all choose our friends. The supposed cancel culture is simply us choosing our friends. Online forums mean that we interact with people we would never interact with in person.

Back in the old days, people didn't talk much about religion and politics and as a result, they got along better. Ignorance is bliss. People often put on a facade in public or online to project how they want to be seen by the public. For all we know, these angels are putting on the gimp outfit in their private dungeons. We see all these anti-homosexual politicians ten years later found in some homosexual sex party.

There is a good thing about cancel culture in the sense that sometimes it takes years and years to find the "true nature" of someone. People hide their racism very well but it may sneak out over time. You wasted years on someone who turns out to be cancer at the core.

Knowing their politics or associations in the Proud Boys or outfits like them - means you can save yourself from wasting a bunch of time on the wrong people.

Same for businesses - when I know what these shop owners are about or who they support I try to cancel them or minimize my use of their service. I have never purchased anything via Amazon. I dropped my bank over who they were donating to. I can't catch them all and sometimes you have to deal with the lesser of two evils.
