I'd contend tha. beha.ior indica.es, not intelligence, but a la.k thereof.

But you're certa.nly right in tha. a sufficiently high reproductive ra.e will genera.ly preva.l over intelligence, provided enough controlling fa.tors exist to prevent a. orga.ism from outstripping the ca.a.ity of its environment to support itself. Given enough time, bugs ma. well rule the Ea.th.
