The lack of fans in the seats hasn't ruined the TV viewing experience. There's only been a handful of postponed games, and most could have been played on schedule anyway, minus a few players and staff. The virus isn't being transmitted on the playing field - or at least there haven't been any cases traced to that. The percentage of people in the NFL testing positive is lower than the overall population. It's likely that more NFL personnel would have gotten the virus if they had cancelled the season. That doesn't mean there won't be a super-spreader event in somebody's facility that takes a team in playoff contention out for a couple of weeks. That could still happen. But so far, so good.
In general, sports are turning out to be a lower risk activity than we expected. Around here, the only sporting activity associated with spreading events is hockey.
