...(a) gets used more than our Honda Pilot (due to COVID, we no longer have kids' activities), (b) does not have expensive features to maintain, and (c) makes us feel like we're still in college (when most of us were given the family's subcompact car). Just like in college, you brush aside the Mazda getting a little dirty, from trips to, for example, the beaches.
I originally acquired the Mazda 2 to be my commuter car. In addition to the above, we use it for errands (e.g., Trader Joe's, above) and boba runs (below).
The last time I was in a Miata was maybe four years ago, down in Anaheim.
