Here's a link to install Linux Mint with dual boot Windows .
An easier way to try it would be if you have a USB drive or even a 16GB stick. Then you can use the BIOS to boot from either the Windows HD or the Linux USB.
Mint is more or less like a Windows or Mac GUI. It's fairly simple to navigate and Mint typically gets all the drivers right, so you won't need to tweak it for the basics.
The next thing to figure out is how to download and install apps. LibreOffice is a MicroSoft Office type app. But each Linux flavor has methods for downloading and installing apps. Just Google, 'How to install X on Linux Mint'
As you find the magic works for each thing that you need to learn, take notes, precise notes. It will save you a lot of time if you want to install another Linux flavor or reinstall Mint on another system or just to start over.
