A few years ago my sister was asked to write an Op-Ed piece, and decided to write it about our grandmother so she asked around the family for good Fannie stories. An uncle answered, "How about the time she was arrested for murder?" None of us had ever heard that, although knowing her none of us doubted it. It turned out she was a union steward that led a strike. Supposedly the charges were drummed up to get her out of the way. Eventually it came in front of a sympathetic judge and thrown out.
