Your wife isn't a good example. Leadership does matter or we'd not

expend so much emotion on presidencies.

I won't bother to refute all your assertions. I'll merely say that equating the parties couldn't be a worse thing for a more progressive future.

The enemy of the good is the perfect.

One example: single payer. Yeah, Dems killed it, but Obamacare still was vastly better than what preceded it.

US still supported gas/oil exploration--- but drilling was limited and important wildlife areas were protected. Alternative fuel programs were funded.

Lastly, there was vigorous prosecution by the Justice Dept. of financial crimes, post-W. However, proving "intent" in the cases that led to the collapse indeed has been difficult. Remember, we were teetering on the edge of a depression when Obama took office. Remember that we needed to assure those relatively few who control our markets and economic lives that no radical was in charge.
