Okay, let's presume (and it's a large presumption seeing as the "wonder vaccine" hasn't had the usual experimental trials/period) that Pfizer has a winner. By the time it's widely distributed (early summer is kind of a long shot), we will have gone through another season when a new virus could appear. But let's be positive. In six months, it's not inconceivable that a mutation will render that vaccine worthless, to a large extent.Also, if large parts of the population of the US refuse to take it, we could see mass waves of infection in those populations--- and, remember, immunity periods are unknown.
And, because of the technological problems and distribution to poorer countries, are we prepared to shut down immigration to and from most countries in the developing world?
Bummer? No, just preparing for the worse, while absolutely hoping for the best.
