RE: It's not

My view is pretty simple - you count all the votes. That is what a democracy is.

I don't think a Republican voter would be too impressed if a Democratic State governor or leader said - "We're not counting your vote due to a time limit" when there is NO RUSH to count the vote. Especially in a pandemic.
And obviously the opposite is true that if a democrat voter was being told this by a Republican governor they would be equally upset.

The trick is to find a way where the Republican put himself in the democrat voter shoes and vice versa.

Otherwise you just get a power begets power situation. Where if democrats get in they will implement policy to make sure it is harder to ever lose power and vice versa.

Lastly, it is not a vote for the president of the state but for the whole country - the same rules should apply identically for the whole country. And if you allow mail in voting and drop of voting then it is the State's responsibility to hire enough people - not throw out mail sorting machines - and actually count all the votes. Being "slow" or "late" is the state government's responsibility. A voter should not be punished because a state decides to try and suppress votes by slowing the process so that it goes past a time limit they impose. The courts have to stop that sort of cheating.
