Time of use is a bad deal!

We have solar, but also have high usage. As you can see, the SDG&E rates are awfully high. We chose to stay on the tiered rates because our solar takes away the high rate, so generally, any bill is at the lowest rate. We still get killed in November to February where we'll hit the higher rates.

On the plus side, we bank power from April to September. What irks me is that we don't get credits directly, but at the rate when it's used. That means that we'll typically get a credit at the lowest rate and get charged at the higher ones.

What's worst is if you bank enough credits, you don't get your bank back, but rather, you get a credit at the end of the year (your tune up date), at the wholesale rate of about 1.5 cents.
