Inmate Central, where civil and family-friendly discourse about off-audio topics (other than religion and politics) is welcome.

I used to ride, as well... not anymore...

...and I've posted this before. I rode for years (BK--before kids). When my daughters were born, I gave-up the bikes for basically 20 years. Then I bought a new one (crotch-rocket from hell). It just wasn't the same because of the idiots in cars.

Unless I "got out of town" onto some back-roads, it was nothing but paranoia and self-defense--I rarely felt "safe" anymore. I don't know how our avid bicyclists even consider being on the road--at least I could twist the grip, drop a couple gears, and "get out of Dodge" in a matter of seconds (130+ hp in a 406 lb bike).

We routinely have people in cars slamming vehicles into buildings, or (most recently) the side of the middle of a moving freight train--"didn't see it"...

At least, if I ride one of my horses, or sally-up the team with the wagon, you won't hit those--they weigh as much (or more) than your car and WILL total it--and you don't want that bill on your insurance.

"And today is for sale and it's all you can afford. Buy your own admission. The whole things got you bored. Well the Lord chooses the good ones, and the bad ones use the Lord"--a very dear friend for decades Michael Stanley (Gee)--RIP
