RE: Question on 12 volt car batteries

the bulk of car batteries are made by just three manufacturers, then rebranded ... Exide, Johnson Controls [the Interstate] and Delphi

none of them are doing things much differently as far as the core goes so buy for the warranty and specify what you want

my tip for buying is the higher the cold cranking amps (CCA) the lower the charge reserve. my rule of thumb is 1.5X the engine displacement [in cubic inches] for the CCA value, then the charge reserve will be fine and it will last longer ... but CCA sells, that's why it's in the ad speak

our last two Toyota's factory installed batteries lasted 8 frikkin years and spent 6 of them parked outside in Chicago winters! no idea who they contracted with [Nippon?] but they were specced by Toyota
