lump 'em all together and say none of their restaurants are "authentic.". Mexico is a large country, itself, with lots of regional cooking. Sauces, peppers, spices--- they vary, considerably!
I spent a year on the Texas/Mexico border and I liked pretty much everything I got, from my fellow employees to the restaurants. Sorry you've been so unlucky. If you go to the Mexican part of town, you won't be.
