Los Angeles County is doing poorly, so masks are required all the time and restaurants have no inside dining at all. People are generally wearing masks walking around and I tell you, it's a bitch. Most will pull down the mask to get a nose breathing break or just pull it down to their chin. After walking around in 80 degree heat for a while, masks get stifling. To keep the town alive, Avalon has moved dining to the beach. Restaurants are now allowed to serve from 5-10PM. The tables and chairs are all set up starting about 4PM and taken back in afterward. Here's a pic from our hotel lobby on the third floor.
I felt sorry for the servers from Steve's that is on the 2nd floor as they have to take everything down a flight of stairs to the beach and take it all back up stairs. With a warm evening and masks on, they looked beat!
The tips are good though, so they're not complaining.
